Commander Corner — EDH highlights, new commanders, precon reviews, cEDH updates

  • We've all been at a table where the social contract shatters. EDHREC breaks down exactly what to do when Commander etiquette fails, offering practical advice for handling those awkward Rule 0 disputes and toxic pub-stompers.
  • Need to dump a massive mana battery into a sink? Players are brainstorming the best Selesnya mana sinks beyond the usual Walking Ballista to ensure your GW decks don't run out of gas.
  • If you're looking to break the rules of combat, check out this wildly inventive Temur banding and theft deck. The game plan? Steal your opponents' commanders, band them up with your own legends, and force your opponents to block their own value pieces.
  • Newly spoiled commanders are already causing builder's block. One player is looking for Bracket 3 deck help for Lluwen, Imperfect Naturalist, trying to sort through the overwhelming card pool for this buggy new build-around.

Competitive Scene — tournament results, meta shifts, tier list changes, deck techs

  • Looking to grind the Standard queues? A returning competitive player on /r/spikes is asking for a Standard deck recommendation after a long hiatus, noting they previously piloted Jeskai Control to success on Arena.
  • In a beautifully deranged brewing experiment, one player is trying to build a singleton masterpiece that is simultaneously legal in both Pioneer and Pauper. It’s the ultimate budget flex to play across multiple local game store formats.

Limited & Draft — draft guides, set reviews, pick tips, cube updates

  • Building your first Cube can feel daunting, but you don't have to reinvent the wheel. One player suggests simply copying the current MTGO Cube list as a perfect baseline, allowing you to focus on drafting and gameplay before eventually customizing your own environment.
  • It's always fun to look back at what actually stuck in the Commander meta. EDHREC is looking backward with their breakdown of the Top 10 Most Played Commander Cards in Phyrexia: All Will Be One. It's a great measuring stick for evaluating future set spoilers.

Finance & Market — price spikes, reprint news, buy/sell targets, Reserved List updates

  • Chase card alert! Mark Rosewater revealed the extreme rarity of the Headliner "Love" card from the new Mood Swings game, noting there are only 500 in existence. All 500 are foil and hand-signed by MaRo himself, making it an ultimate collector's piece.
  • Tracking your collection's value just got easier. MythicHub has officially added support for sealed products, giving players a much better way to evaluate their booster boxes and sealed product portfolios.

Design & Lore — Rosewater insights, story beats, worldbuilding, flavor deep dives

  • Don't expect a cure for poison counters anytime soon. In a recent Blogatog post, Mark Rosewater explained that poison's inability to be removed is core to its identity, making it fundamentally distinct—and much scarier—than regular life loss.
  • The design pipeline is wilder than you think. MaRo shared a fascinating piece of MTG trivia, revealing that the card [Blackmail] actually came from an earlier design of Paranoia](https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/819378713226526720), showing how off-shoot games like Mood Swings can influence Magic's design space.
  • Ever wonder how R&D is structured? Rosewater gave a simplified breakdown of Wizards' hierarchy, explaining the vital differences between Game Design Directors (process overseers), Producers (organizers), and Managers (team facilitators).
  • Canonically speaking, just how small is a basic land? A fun, flavor-focused Reddit thread tackled the scale of lands in the Multiverse, pointing out that cards like Witch's Cottage imply you're tapping a single building for mana rather than a sprawling landscape.

Hi Mark, If on a scale of 1 to 10, your personal familiarity with Marvel Comics is a 10, what would you say your personal familiarity with DC Comics be? Enough to be a SME for a hypothetical Universes Beyond DC Comics set or not really.

Hi Mark, who should we contact about not receiving mood swings from the vegas magiccon event? Several of us in my play group attended your event but no one to our knowledge has received Mood Swings or a communication/update from WOTC. Thank you.

just opened Mood Swings! I was disappointed bc I misread the announcement and thought Love came in every deck, but I’ll just root harder for the game to succeed so there will be a market to buy one for myself :)

What location in the Marvel universe would good to use for a colorless basic Wastes land? I am looking to make custom Basic Lands for a colorless Ultron deck. I have attached the Final Fantasy Wastes Basic Land card as an example.

How did the foil, signed Love get from your pen to the starter decks?

Finally got to play my copy of Mood Swings a couple times against a couple friends the past few days and everyone REALLY enjoyed it! Loved the game speed – it’s incredibly easy to go “wanna do one more?” when the rounds are less than 5 minutes long :) Was pleasantly surprised how close games were, and how often it game down to 2 rounds won vs. 2 rounds won on both sides – some great moments of poring over my hand and realizing I had a line to victory I hadn’t noticed before. I will note this, just because it’s kinda funny: in our very first game, we revealed the bottom card of the deck (the rules state whoever felt that emotion most recently goes first), and the emotion we pulled was……. Self-Loathing, LOL. Kind of a dark way to start our first game! :P But we made a joke out of it. But yeah! Great game, 5 out of 5, scratches the Magic itch in a VERY quick and easily-teachable way. Recommended!
