The spoiler season for Marvel Super Heroes has officially reached its end! You can check out all the remaining cards from the main set, the bonus sheets, and the new Jumpstart product over on MTGGoldfish. (MTGGoldfish Spoilers — June 8)

Mark Rosewater addressed some early complaints about a lack of "deep cuts" in the set, noting that now that the full set and Jumpstart cards are revealed, players should be overjoyed at the characters the team managed to squeeze in. (markrosewater)

MaRo also teased that a card originally created for Marvel Super Heroes was moved to a future Spider-Man set to make room for Ezekiel Sims, Spider-Totem, so keep your eyes peeled for that design in the wild. (markrosewater)

Commander Corner

The Avengers Assemble preconstructed Commander decklist has been fully revealed, giving us our first official look at the deck's new legendary face and its supporting cast. (MTGGoldfish Avengers Assemble Spoilers)

If you're looking to break the format, Draftsim has broken down five spicy combos for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, who has all the makings of a combo-heavy cEDH powerhouse. (draftsim)

EDHREC is celebrating Precon Month by looking at the top 10 best cEDH staples to ever come out of Commander preconstructed decks—perfect for upgrading your latest builds. (edhrec)

Ever wonder why some characters in the Marvel set have six or seven separate cards? MaRo explained that while the main set kept it to a strict two-per-character limit, Commander, Jumpstart, and Welcome decks pushed the numbers up to meet product needs. (markrosewater)

He also touched on the design workaround for non-legendary cards like Stark Industries Executive, noting the legendary rule makes it difficult to print common legendaries for properties with massive casts like Pepper Potts. (markrosewater)

Competitive Scene

The MTGGoldfish crew is pitting Solar Flare (2013) against Atarka Red (2015) in their ongoing Best Standard Deck Ever Top 64 bracket—a true clash of titans. (MTGGoldfish)

On their latest podcast, the crew discusses the Marvel Super Heroes spoilers and questions how the high density of legends will impact the upcoming Standard metagame. (MTGGoldfish Podcast 591)

Over on r/spikes, players are debating which version of Izzet Prowess is best positioned to windmill slam the competition in the current Standard format. (reddit_spikes)

Limited & Draft

If you're firing up a cube today, take a second to appreciate Colossification. MaRo shared some trivia on the massive Aura, noting it was created specifically to be the largest Aura in history for a "giant monster" themed set. (markrosewater)

Finance & Market

The Avengers Assemble Commander precon is packing some serious value with several rare, non-land reprints featuring brand-new art that are sure to impact the secondary market. (reddit_magictcg)

If you're building your next "legends matter" deck, Draftsim has ranked the 78 best legendary payoff cards in Magic to help you figure out where your money is best spent. (draftsim)

Design & Lore

MaRo confirmed that the State of Design article will match the new "year" rotation schedule as it always has, so expect that deep dive soon. (markrosewater)

For those wondering about behind-the-scenes timelines, Rosewater noted that art orders begin mid-set design, well before the "impossible to change" cutoff around 9 months before release. (markrosewater)

If you noticed the incredible Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart cards dropped in a massive IGN article, MaRo explained they simply had too many cool cards to reveal and not enough preview days to stretch them across. (markrosewater)

High fives are in order for designer Daniel Xu, who MaRo confirmed is responsible for the hilarious Sauron card—a definite flavor win—featuring the incredible "Cure Cancer" flavor text. (markrosewater)

Just got my mood swings decks and I’m excited to play with my friends tomorrow. I just have one request. Can the packaging be adjusted in future runs to fit sleeved cards? I really like the box but the sleeves I use dont fit

When Spider Man came out you said a card was created then moved to Super Heros tobmake room for Ezekiel Sims, Spider-Totem. I was curious if enough of the cards have been previewed for you to tell us what card that was now?

Thank you to all and please give high fives where appropriate, Cap is my favorite hero and reading through the decklist released today made me smile so much:)

You’ve mentioned the time needed to make a set start to finish in the past, but I don’t think art schedule has been mentioned. How long before the changes are impossible point (which you’ve said is ~9 months before release) do art orders start going out?

In the hypothetical world where Magic goes down to four colours or else we get assigned everything banana by aliens, which colour would we lose? Alternatively, if we went up to six instead, what would we gain?
Markrosewater · 2026-06-09
I’m surprised by your answer about magic going down to 4 colors instead of up to 6 (if they weren’t allowed to do 5 for some reason), could you elaborate on why?

“Blue is tertiary in trample. It’s allowed it on rare occasion.” As in only for rares? 🤔 Joke aside, as someone who was around during Leviathan/Polar Kraken, which I also appreciated in the recent DTW by the way, seems like definitely few and far between. Looks like a quick search was caverns of ixalan (commander only for The indomitable) , kraken tokens from blue siege; and back to New Capena for a creature proper. :)

With Jeff and Gwenpool now showing up not only on cards, but also in flavour text, can I get a “maybe” on them getting their own cards, soon?
Markrosewater · 2026-06-09
This set has the first mono blue creatures with Reach. Is this a new thing that the colour pie supports or were breaks allowed for flavour reasons?
