More "Nowhere to Run" Effects Coming to Standard (Eventually) MaRo acknowledged that Nowhere to Run filled an important role in giving black mages agency against hexproof and ward-stacked threats. He expects more cards in that design space, but don't hold your breath for every set — these are surgical prints, not evergreen staples. Read the exchange

Design & Lore
Havana Is Now in Exploratory Design The biggest nugget from MaRo's Tumblr today: the current in-Multiverse codename set starting with "H" is Havana, and it's entering exploratory design. WotC names their in-development sets after cities alphabetically, so this gives us a rough timeline placement in the pipeline. MaRo's post
MDFCs: Lands First or Spells First? When asked how designers conceptualize modal double-faced cards, MaRo's answer was elegant: "We look at it as a modal card." Neither side is the "real" card — the modality is the design. A good reminder for deckbuilders too: evaluate both faces as a package. Read more
Alara Return Has No Story Blockers MaRo confirmed there's nothing preventing a return to Alara — they just need to make the set. With Bant and other shards still lacking native planeswalkers, there's plenty of design space for a revisit to explore how the Conflux reshaped the plane. His response
Kaldheim Will Return — It's Just a Matter of When MaRo expressed "total faith" in a Kaldheim return, noting the plane was popular and deliberately designed deeper than one set could capture. The question isn't if but when the timing will excite players most. Norse mythology fans, keep the faith. Full answer
Lessons Learned Episodes Are Coming — Just Slowly If you're a fan of MaRo's Drive to Work "Lessons Learned" series, he confirmed he only records them for sets he leads or co-leads (once or twice a year), so he spaces them out to avoid running dry. Patience, Planeswalkers. His note
Spoiler Season Philosophy: Why Full Sets Get Previewed A player asked if WotC could limit spoilers to rares and mythics to preserve prerelease mystery. MaRo noted that showing lower-rarity cards is actually one of their most frequent community requests — most players want full info before they sit down. The blind prerelease dream lives on only in our hearts. The exchange
