Secrets of Strixhaven previews are close. Mark Rosewater confirmed on Tumblr that previews for the upcoming Strixhaven set "aren't too far away." Not much to go on, but if you've been holding off on brewing, now's the time to start watching for spoiler season announcements. Draftsim is already getting ahead of the curve with 5 combo packages they're eyeing for new Strixhaven commanders — Zimone, Infinite Analyst looks like a spicy one.
The World supertype is officially retired. MaRo confirmed it would take "a very demanding design" to bring it back. Pour one out for Concordant Crossroads and its ilk — World Enchantments are a relic of a different era.
EDHREC kicks off March Commandness. Their bracket-style tournament pitting Commander staples against each other starts with the North Conference. Think March Madness but with cardboard crack. If you have strong opinions about which staples deserve the crown, get your votes in.

Design & Lore
Symmetrical effects are the exception now, not the rule. MaRo explained that the shift away from symmetrical designs like The Abyss and Moat toward one-sided effects is deliberate — they believe asymmetric cards create better play patterns and are what most players prefer. Old-school fans pushed back, and MaRo acknowledged symmetrical designs still happen, just aren't the default.
Protection is showing up a lot because flavor is a hell of a drug. Despite being a deciduous mechanic with real complexity concerns, MaRo admitted that protection keeps appearing because it's so flavorful that designers get pulled toward it. The lack of reminder text on most printings suggests they're treating it as common knowledge at this point.
Legendary errata isn't happening for Ali from Cairo. Despite a thoughtful pitch from a fan wanting to run Ali as a commander for symmetrical damage themes, MaRo confirmed they've never added legendary status to a creature that didn't already have it. Functional errata remains a hard line.
